Welverdiend Hiking Trail

Welverdiend Hiking Trail is situated 21Km west of Volksrust and 250Km from Gauteng. The trail caters for 20 hikers and consists of two circular day hikes of 14Km and 7Km. Close by another trail (The Slang River Trail) which is 10Km long, can also be enjoyed. The hiking trails centre around the Slang river and the Buffels river. The area is very picturesgue and although there is little shade against the sun there is usually plenty of pools to take refuge in from the heat of the day.

The trails follow the deep gorges that dissect the farm.

 Interesting rock formations provide the photographer with ample opportunity to take those memorable snaps.

Conclusion

This trail is in an area that has been somewhat neglected in the last few years by hiking but is well worth a visit. The accommodation is of a suitable standard that the whole family can enjoy, even Gran.
