Kuthaba
Bush Camp and Trails
Near Nylstroom,
Limpopo Province
The Kuthaba Hiking Trails are now permanently closed
It never ceases to amaze me the
secrets the Waterberg Mountains have to offer to those intrepid explorers
that have the time and perseverance to explore the lesser bye ways.
Kuthaba is situated just 16Km outside Nylstroom along the Driefontein
road. The owners have worked hard to see that their guests have a
comfortable and relaxing stay.

The Accommodation
The owners have gone to
great lengths to make sure of the comfort of the guests. There is a
lovely bar area and the kitchen area is well equipped with fridges
and adequate work area to prepare meals to feed everyone that the
camp can accommodate. There are ten bungalows sleeping a total of 26
people and additional accommodation is available in the restored
farmhouse. A secluded camping area will also soon be available. |

The Trails
The 12Km circular route
starts from the camp and winds its way along a river bank for some
distance. |

Even during the dry season
there is plenty of water around. The flora in the area is diverse
and beautiful. |

The trail undulates across
mountains, through dense bosveld and by gurgling streams. |

The variety of vegetation
is something that makes Kuthaba very special. |

There are waterfalls to be
seen and shady trees to shelter under from the midday heat (and
climb if you feel like it). |

On the final leg of the
trail back to the camp the trail passes some beautiful specimens of
trees.
The final part of the day
is spent around the camp fire with thoughts of a lovely day. |

The second day's hike is a
short walk that traverses the mountainous area behind the camp. It
offers beautiful views across the area walked the previous day. |

The main focal point of the
second day trail is the chain ladder. For those who have a fear of
heights there is an alternative route. |

Conclusion
Kuthaba is certainly worth a
visit. The place is ideal to take the whole family to even if some members
of your party may not be hikers and may like some home comforts. The area
is beautiful and the hiking relatively easy. Kuthaba is also ideal for
informal functions, team building and product launches. Catering can be
provided by prior arrangement.
