Frogs Trail

Near Cullinan, Gauteng

We tend to associate Gauteng with massive urban sprawl around which there are areas of highveld grassland with patches of exotic vegetation. Now and again one comes across something very special though and in this case it was an area of ground that would compare favourably with areas of Mpumalanga. The area in question is close to Cullinan, north of Pretoria

         
 

Frogs can either be treated as a day outing or tents can be taken along and a whole weekend can be enjoyed.

  
 
         
 
 

Geologically, the area has much to offer including some incredible examples of conglomerate.

When we walked the trail the Stemvrug were in fruit.

  
         
 

The trail passes Little Eden timeshare resort. The owners of the trail ask that the swimming pool at the resort are not used, rather use the numerous pools in the river.

  
 
         
 
  The high rock cliffs are magnificent and form a beautiful backdrop to the river.  
         
 

The waterfall is also incredible and time needs to be allowed for relaxing at this beautiful place.

Conclusion

The Frogs trail is a great addition to our growing list of trails. The owners have plans to extend the trails and a 2-day backpack trail will be considered
