Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden Trail

Roodepoort, Gauteng

The Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden offers hikers some good hiking opportunities especially if one climbs up to the top of the ridge, beyond the waterfall.

	Hiking starts at the entrance to the Botanical gardens. Here one pays the entrance fee and then proceeds to the bottom of the waterfall. The gardens are the venue of the popular winter picnic concerts as well as a number of other interesting events throughout the year.		The Waterfall

	Above the falls the views are beautiful		Close to the base of the fall an interesting Geological interpretive trail leads steeply up to the top of the ridge. Once the top of the ridge is reached there are several options available for the hiker to explore the beautiful nature of the craggy mountainside.

Conclusion

The gardens are well worth a visit and the hiking opportunities are good. Take a picnic basket along and enjoy a leisurely afternoon with the rest of the family after a morning of hiking.
