Boskloof Hiking Trail

Near Naboomspruit, Limpopo Province

This Trail has had to be re-routed and is now named Hanglipberg Trail

Boskloof is a new trail that has been developed in the same area as the Skeurkrans Hiking Trail. The trail is spectacular and explores areas that are remote and very scenic. To help the hiker explore the area, many bridges and ladders have been used. The trail is planned as a two day backpack trail.

The trail starts from the Skeurkrans basecamp. Hot showers and flush toilets are provided along with refrigerator and gas burners for cooking.

On leaving the basecamp the trail proceeds to climb through beautiful rock formations until it reaches a magnificent waterfall.

The trail has been constructed in such a manner as to allow the hiker to really appreciate the area through which they are walking

The Waterfall (in dry times)

The plant life is quite remarkable and diverse, ranging from thick indigenous forest to mountain savannah.

The views are spectacular and the rock formations difficult to rival.

The landscape is often very rugged.

Some sections of the trail could give people that suffer from vertigo a few nervous moments.

Don't look down!

Along the route there is a sizable cave. The final section of the first day entails a very steep descent down a gorge to the overnight camp.

The second day of the trail is 6Km long and takes the hiker along the bottom of the high rock krans, passing waterfalls back to base camp.

Conclusion

This is a trail that is sure to become a firm favourite. A lot of work has gone into making the remote areas of the farm accessible. Care should be taken when crossing the bridges when wet and those suffering from a fear of heights need to proceed with caution.
