Bokkraal Waterfall Hiking Trail

Groot Marico, North West Province

The land of Herman Charles Bosman, Groot Marico, is one of the best kept secrets of South Africa. The diversity of plants and birdlife is very special. Through this area runs the Marico River. The river rises in the district and is one of the major sources of the Limpopo. The Bokkraal Waterfall Trail takes full advantage of this waterway and its waterfalls and rock pools that entice the hikers to tarry a while.

         
 

The accommodation can be considered as up-market for hikers with bedding etc supplied. Just bring your food and drink. An old farmhouse is also available.

  The Trail continues along the river banks, sometimes on the left and sometimes on the right bank. Be careful of the river crossings as the stones can be very slippery.
